We view our mission through a variety of lenses

(represented by the Four Lenses in our logo).

GOD’S WORD

The first and incomparable lens through which all else is seen and filtered. What people think about God (their theology) informs everything they do. Whether atheistic or religious, these theological worldviews are the lenses that define every interaction between neighbors, communities and civilizations. This affects how we treat one another, how we express ourselves and how we seek answers to the questions that haunt us. Simply put, what each person believes about God, affects those around them. Therefore, we lovingly challenge people, especially believers, to make thinking deeply and theologically about God their very way of life. To break free from today’s mainstream status quos and live a life where every thought and deed is informed and nuanced by Scripture.

Science AND TECHNOLOGY

Theology that informs our approach towards scientific and technological advancement, both its wonders and cautions. Technology in many ways dominates our world, so we have chosen it as a focus to speak to theologically.

The Church needs a theology of understanding, ethics and practice to lead and guide us thru the endless and fascinating changes that are taking place rapidly in real time, even as we read these words. This includes things like the communications revolution and its social/cultural/theological effects, or bioethics in relation to scientific advancements — any one or handful of which — could irreversibly change civilization as we know it.

When it comes to tech, the future is now.

MEDIA and THE ARTS

Theology that informs our view and creation of contemporary media and arts. The world is largely informed by the media and the arts as their moral, ethical and spiritual compass. Because we at The Theology Project are media producers and artists ourselves with many years’ experience working with leaders in the field both church and mainstream, we work towards a robust theology of the arts and media that both practitioners and lovers of the arts welcome as a breath of fresh air. Not to mention, the Scriptures offer plenty of exciting truth, guidance, inspiration and ethics for anyone to glorify God and enjoy Him forever, wonderfully and rightly, through media and the arts.

SOCIAL

Theology that informs our interaction with humankind. Because the Scriptures teach religion that is pure and undefiled is to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, to reach out to the poor, sick, hurting and elderly, to consider those in prison as if we ourselves shared their plight, and to demonstrate the life of Christ in issues of peace and justice — in sum to love our neighbor as ourselves — we will involve ourselves in projects that have a social impact: Getting our hands dirty as it were, as the natural expression of our Christian theology.
