Revolutionize How You Read & Understand the Bible (part 1)

Craig McClure

With a handful of interpretive skills, the Bible comes alive in whole new ways, bringing God’s involvement and guidance into every question and area of our lives! Yet only a tiny percent of Christians has had any formal training in how to rightly study the Bible. New or seasoned believers will be eternally impacted by this 2-part seminar on how to study and interpret the unchanging Word in changing times.

Bible Belonging: Accessing the Full Life of Scripture Through the Church

Dr. Jerry Gillis

Knowing how to interpret God’s Word rightly is not a solitary discipline.  If you are serious about obtaining life in the Bible to the fullest, it must be with others! See how God has ordained your personal study of his Word to be naturally and beautifully interwoven within the context of the local church; and how only through community can the Word of God bless, perfect, and protect you.

Transformation: Building the Renewed Mind

DR. Dan TrippiE, Bryan Wandel, Chris Jhu

In a presentation designed to reinvigorate your faith, this exceptional panel — including a Baptist, a Presbyterian (PCA), and an Anglican who are all friends — will provide an inside look into how they came to love the Lord more deeply through theology. They’ll reflect on their personal journeys and suggest resources to use. This important workshop will include an engaging and thoughtful panel discussion on the importance of Biblical unity, doctrine, and finding the right hills to die on: including the distinctions between (a) gospel issues, (b) theological issues that entail different churches, though we’re still Christians, and (c) theological issues that are important, but don't need to divide us.

Revolutionize How You Read & Understand the Bible (part 2)

Is the Bible Intolerant & Outdated?

Alycia Wood

Christianity is not a new belief system, so how can we believe that it is relevant for modern times? How is it possible for an ancient text like the Bible to know anything about what moral system I should follow or to even understand the challenges that day-to-day life brings? In a world where Christianity seems so intolerant of those who think differently, we will take time to consider these complaints while also looking at how a thousands-year-old book truly sets the standard for how we should treat each other today.

Real Life Living Your Faith: A Practical Theology of Radical Biblical Community.

Mark Stevens, Fr. Bryan Wandel

Join Urban Minister/Urban Farmer Mark Stevens and Fr. Bryan Wandel as they explore a biblical theology of deep church community. Mark will reflect on the many ways he has made major changes in his life and work to implement this over 30+ years, including successes and failures. This session will delve into practical, workable suggestions for today’s believers and churches as we engage with someone who has devoted his life in radical service to Christ. Not a call for everyone to be Urban Farmers – but a call to think seriously about the Bible’s teaching of the concept of church.

The first 40 people to register will receive a FREE copy of Alister McGrath’s beautiful book Mere Discipleship: Growing in Wisdom and Hope.

If you long for a robust faith that makes a real difference in the way you experience your everyday life, this book is for you! Christian discipleship is a lifelong process that should steadily change everything about us — the way we view the world, the way we think, and the way we interact with other people and with our culture.

In Mere Discipleship, Alister E. McGrath, Professor of Science and Religion at Oxford University, encourages us to move beyond a superficial grasp of our faith to discover its depth and riches, seeing discipleship as a process of growth in wisdom wherein we absorb a Christian vision of reality, allow it to percolate, and then let it inform how we think, love, and act. Drawing particularly on the astute insights of Dorothy L. Sayers, C. S. Lewis, John Stott, and J. I. Packer, McGrath illuminates how we can hold on to hope and live meaningfully in a world where things don't always seem to make sense.
